Long-term Camera Trap Survey of Vertebrate Biodiversity in a British Hedgerow
This report focuses on presenting the findings from data collected of ten years of camera trap recording in a Warwickshire hedgerow. A description of the methodology used, the technology employed, and how the data was analysed is presented before specific species accounts are given of all vertebrate species recorded throughout the survey.
Aims
-
To build up a species list of vertebrates using the hedgerow at the camera’s location
-
To gain an estimate of abundance of the species recorded and quantify the health of vertebrate communities.
-
To explore daily activity patterns of the species recorded
-
To explore the behaviours observed on camera.
-
To understand the use of camera trapping as a survey tool in an amateur project scenario.
